David Ward is currently pursuing a Masters in Music degree at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and adding the roles of Director and Teacher to his varied repertoire. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, he is studying directing with Buck Ross and vocal pedagogy with Joey Evans, Melanie Sonnenberg and Dr. Timothy Jones. He expects to begin work on his DMA in 2013.

In January 2013, David's production of Marriage of Figaro was performed
at the Moores Opera Center, Moores School of Music, University of Houston, where he also co-directs an undergraduate scenes program.
He returns to Opera in the Ozarks at Arkansas' Inspiration Point in Eureka Springs to direct The Pirates of Penzance and a touring version of Cinderella for young people. He will also co-direct the Young Artists' Scenes Program. He also debuts with Houston's Opera in the Heights directing Falstaff and Don Pasquale.
David made his directorial debut with Kirke Mechem's Tartuffe in 2012 at the Moores School. Composer Mechem wrote: "Your direction of Tartuffe was highly successful — one of the funniest I have seen. It's no wonder you sold so many tickets. You may quote me." This production went on to win Second Place in The American Prize in Opera Performance. Ward then joined the directing staff at Opera in the Ozarks as an assistant director and coach where he also co-directed the Young Artists' Scenes Program.
During the 2010 summer season, David staged scenes from The Abduction from the Seraglio, The Magic Flute and La Cenerentola for Des Moines Metro Opera's (DMMO) James Collier Apprentice Artist Program.
In 2009 he assisted director Kyle Marrero with a production of Gianni Schicchi and directed a scene from La Cenerentola also for the apprentices at DMMO.
In 2008 David assisted director Susan Gonzalez with a production of Too Many Sopranosfor the Hunter College, CUNY, Music Department.
David has taught Master Classes at the University of Nebraska/Lincoln and for Opera New Jersey's Apprentice Program at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ.
